Welcome to Hamina’s Shopkeepers Museum! The artisan Christmas market named after the merchant Anna Muravjeva opens the museums’ Christmas season in the atmospheric courtyard of the museum in the historical Hamina.

Christmas exhibition “Miracle of the Birth”
The Shopkeepers’s House Museum’s Christmas story The Miracle of Birth tells about the attitudes, beliefs and recommendations related to pregnancy, childbirth and the period of childbed, then and now. Many truths considered eternal have changed by a factor of two in just over a hundred years.

Exhibition open 29.11.-28.12.2025 Wednesday 14-18, Thursday-Sunday 12-16 .
Closed on 6.12., 24.-26.12.

Wanhan Holviston Joulu 13-14.12.
Wanhan Holviston Joulu- event at the Hamina Bastion is an atmospheric and traditional Christmas market event for the whole family.
You can experience a relaxed atmosphere and sense the scent and taste of Christmas delicacies, as well as enjoy the atmosphere of the spruce park and the warmth of the campfire. Around 100 vendors are expected to attend the event again and there will also be a Christmas program as usual!

Christmas trees by Kehittyvä Hamina ry
Decorated Christmas trees are placed in Trykin Park, next to the Town Hall Square at the street of Fredrikinkatu. Each tree has a special theme and you can choose, which one is the best one!

Christmas trees are in Trykin Park, next to the Town Hall Square, from late November until 6th Jan! Best time to see the trees is after 4 pm, when it’s getting dark! Free entry!
Hamina Christmas advent window calendar 1.–24.12.2025
One of the Haminas Christmas tradition is the Cristmas window advent calendar-event. Every day during 1-24.12. at 18.00 in one of the Hamina’s old house in Hamina Old Town, the advent calendar window will open.
After 24th December, there is a guessing competition for the names/themes of the windows, where you can guess the correct windows from the given names.

Christmas Cribs 2025
The Hamina parish is organizing again traditional nativity scene exhibition “Follow the Stars-Christmas cribs 2025” in the towns of Hamina, Virolahti and Miehikkälä. The exhibition sites will be published during the autumn.

Hamina Christmas Light Competition 2025
Mr. Ilari Soosalu, Mayor of Hamina Town has announced the open Hamina Christmas Light Competition 2025.
The competition has two categories:
Category 1: home yards or balconies
Category 2: yards, facades and shop windows of companies and communities.
You can register for the competition by sending a picture of the window, the category and the participant’s contact information by email to viestinta@hamina.fi by 16.11.2025. Data protection.
Voting for the best windows is open via a survey on the city’s website from 24.11.-10.12. 2025. The winning windows, i.e. the ones with the most votes from both categories, will be announced at the Wanhan Holviston Christmas -event on Sunday 14.12. at 10.30.

Candlelit swimming
Welcome to enjoy atmospheric swimming and sauna moments at the Hamina Spa & Swimming pool. The outdoor pools and sauna are open weather permitting. Before Christmas, there are also popular candlelit swimming available (included in the admission fee).
