The main celebration of Senior Citizens' Week was celebrated in a joyful atmosphere
The main party of Seniors' Week was held on October 9.10th in Simeon Hall, which was filled with guests. The guests of the main party were welcomed by Pentti Hannula, who opened the event by recalling the different phases of Hamina over the years.

Hamina City Inclusion and Wellbeing Manager and this year's patron of Hamina Senior Citizens' Week Rita Maasilta emphasized this year's theme in his speech Happiness grows in community. Senior Citizens' Week reminds us of the importance of belonging to a community. In his speech, Maasilta highlighted the importance of community, for example in building one's own social capital and the importance of one's own self, which in turn builds mental well-being and a sense of security in one's own community.
A singer performed at the main event of Senior Citizens' Week Emma Daniels, who sang evergreen tangos. Paul Niskanen told excerpts from his own poetry book and Anja-Liisa Niskanen told about the old days, for example through the old alphabet and its contents, and heard the reminiscences of "Hilmoji".

The atmosphere of the main party was warm, applause echoed in the hall after the performances, people remembered Hamina at different times and, according to the theme, emphasized the importance of community. The event also featured Pentti Hannula singing part of the song Greetings from Hamina (composed by Pertti Husu, lyrics by Pertti Rainio, arranged by Juhani Leinonen. Original performer: Kari Vepsä). At the end of the main party, guests were offered coffee and cake.

The events of Seniors' Week have offered opportunities to meet and share moments together, just as the theme of the week suggests.
