Summer work voucher 2026

If you are a young person aged 15-18 from Hamina, you will receive a summer work voucher from the city.
You will receive a summer work voucher when

– your home municipality is Hamina
– you were born between 2008 and 2011

Summer work vouchers will be distributed through Ohjaamo starting March 3, 2026. The summer work voucher will be given to the young person when the employer is known. You can only use one summer work voucher during the same summer. The value of the summer work voucher is €320 and it is a support for the employer to hire you. You can use the voucher to apply for summer jobs in Hamina. Companies, associations, organizations, clubs or foundations can act as employers. You cannot get a job with a summer work voucher in city, municipal or state units or for a private person.

Terms of Service

  • The city will compensate 320 euros to an employer who hires a young person eligible for the Summer Work Voucher between May 1 and August 31, 2026.
  • The minimum requirement for summer work is 60 hours of work. The recommended weekly working hours are at least 18 hours/week. The work can be divided into several periods during the validity period of the Summer Work Voucher (1.5.–31.8.2026)
  • The summer work voucher is intended to compensate for the costs of an employee's salary. The money from the summer work voucher is not paid directly to the employee, but the employer must calculate the young person's salary costs as for a regular employee, i.e. based on working hours. For example, evening and Sunday compensation and bonuses according to the collective agreement for the industry must also be paid.
  • The salary of a young person employed with a summer work voucher must be in accordance with the industry collective agreement. If an employer hires a young person for a period longer than the 60 hours of the summer voucher, the salary in accordance with the collective agreement for the sector must also be paid for the excess time.
  • If a young person works 14 working days or 35 hours during a calendar month, they will accrue annual leave in accordance with the Annual Leave Act. It must be paid to them when the employment relationship ends, and annual leave compensation may not be included in the basic salary. In addition, the employer pays the normal employer contributions. Any evening and holiday supplements must also be paid in accordance with their own TES. NOTE! The young person's age affects employer contributions.   • In cases of illness, the young person must be paid sick pay in accordance with the collective agreement for the sector or, if there is no collective agreement, in accordance with the Employment Contracts Act. He or she may not be required to make up the work after recovering.
  • The employer is required to have a Finnish business ID and a Finnish bank account. A private person, municipality or state cannot act as an employer. 
  • An employer can employ a maximum of 5 young people per summer with a summer work voucher.

  • By using a summer work voucher, the employer commits to: Responsible summer job -to comply with the campaign principles.  Responsible summer job for the municipality.
  • A young person can receive one Summer Work Voucher once per summer, and the same young person cannot be employed both with a summer work voucher and in the City of Hamina's youth summer jobs.

A condition of employment may include a salary that is at least in accordance with the collective agreement or the law. If there is no collective agreement in the sector, the minimum wage in accordance with the Unemployment Security Act applies. This minimum wage of full-time work per month is €1,463. At a minimum, this amounts to €8,46/h.
