City of Hamina summer jobs 2026
Summer jobs for young people in 2026 were available through KuntaRekry from January 27 to February 23, 2025.

All applicants who submitted their applications by the deadline have been notified of their selection by email.
However, it is worth monitoring your email for possible cancellations.
Note: Those selected as instructors for daycare centers, youth services, and swimming schools must submit a criminal background check before starting work. Information on ordering a criminal background check from here.
And a young person selected for kindergarten must also fill out a tuberculosis questionnaire.
All those selected for summer jobs with the city must sign a Data Security and Privacy Commitment.
Summer jobs are generally two to four week periods. The monthly salary is €1287,04/month.
Selections are made based on interviews, a lottery, and some social criteria.
The following principles will be followed in the selection:
- domicile Hamina
- age 17 – 25 years (born 2001 – 2009)
- The same young person can access the city's summer jobs for a maximum of three years; however, every young person has the right to access the city's summer jobs at least once.
- the person selected must not be covered by unemployment insurance
- Priority is given to people who have not previously participated in youth summer jobs.

Summer intern / communications assistant at Ohjaamo
The summer social worker's duties will allow you to use different social media platforms and create content from a young person's perspective. You will get to implement your own ideas and create something new.
The period available for application is June 1-22, 2025.
Kitchen assistant / facility caretaker
Kitchen and cleaning at a downtown daycare center
The period being applied for is in July.
Library assistant
Duties of a library assistant at the main library.
The available periods are in June and July.
Carpenter's assistant
Assisting a carpenter with various repair and painting tasks and assisting with internal moves. We are looking for a construction student for the position.
The periods available for application are June and July.
Sports facility manager for the ice rink
Maintenance of the ice rink and outdoor areas, including Ruissalo's local sports facilities and the artificial turf area. For some of the tasks, we are looking for someone who has a driver's license and can operate the machines needed for the job.
The available periods are from June to August.
Sports facility manager for outdoor sports facilities
Work that assists in the management of outdoor sports facilities, including maintenance and marking of sports and ball fields, mowing lawns, clearing the area around outdoor trails and fields. Some of the tasks require a person with a driver's license to operate the machinery needed for the job.

Sports facility manager/swimming lifeguard for a swimming pool
The available periods are in June and July.
Museum assistant
Hamina city museums: city museum, Kauppiaantalo Museum and Vehkalahti local history museum.
Summer work in museums is related to keeping exhibitions open. Duties include customer service, ticket sales, exhibition supervision, cleaning and organization tasks. The work is similar in content in all museums, but the tasks may also vary depending on the time of year in different museums. The work also includes weekend work. The requirements are 18 years of age, customer service spirit and at least English language skills.
The available periods are from June to August.
Instructor for youth services summer activities
The director is responsible for, among other things, implementing the summer activities program (e.g. children's summer club), so the job requires guidance and interaction skills. Age requirement 18 years.
Note: Those selected as youth service supervisors must submit a criminal background check before starting work.

Park worker
Green area work includes maintenance and cleaning of green areas (including parks, market square, beaches, playgrounds, carpet washing areas) and maintenance and cleaning of traffic areas and properties. Daily cleaning rounds, care of summer flowers, cleaning of swimming beaches, weeding of green areas, care of lawn areas (cutting), care of trees (base/trunk), removal of shoots. Some of the tasks require a person with a driver's license who can drive the machines needed for the job if necessary.
The available periods are May-August.
Daycare assistant
Summer work at a daycare center includes working in groups of children as an assistant to the teachers, playing with children, playing games, and going outside. In addition, various small practical tasks specific to the daycare center, such as tasks related to clothing maintenance and daily cleaning.
Note: Those selected for the daycare must submit a criminal background check and complete a tuberculosis questionnaire before starting work.
The available periods are May-July.
Cleaner for cleaning services
Duties include various cleaning assistance tasks and basic cleaning (including washing windows and furniture, moving goods/furniture, etc.). We are looking for someone with, for example, a moped to get to work sites.
The available episodes are in June.
Electrician's assistant
The job duties include working as an electrician's assistant. We are looking for an electrical engineering student for the position.

Exhibition supervisors for cultural services
Acting as an exhibition supervisor and guide at summer exhibitions.
Employees are selected based on applications and interviews. Individual summer work periods (2-4 weeks) are created based on the wishes and skills of the applicants. The content of the work may vary depending on the types of exhibition and event production tasks available during different summer weeks. The requirement is 18 years of age.
The available periods are from June to August.
Swimming instructor, swimming instructor and locker room supervisor
Children's swimming schools from 1 to 28 June 2026.
Note: Those selected must provide a criminal background check before starting work.
Water supply trainee, Haminan Vesi
The job is office work and includes archiving and development tasks.
Date 1-12 June 2026.

Young people studying in Ekam
Young people studying in Ekam can sign an apprenticeship contract for the summer work period at the City of Hamina.
A condition for signing an agreement is that the work tasks can be linked in some way to the young person's studies. First-year students may also have the following learning objectives: getting to know the profession and/or working life and functioning in a work community.
When the work tasks are directly related to the profession being studied, young people can accumulate work-related learning time during the summer and may even be able to do a demonstration and parts of a demonstration, if this is agreed upon at the workplace.
The student must be assigned to a group supervisor in their field.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THOSE SELECTED FOR SUMMER WORK
After you sign employment contract, you will see the contact information of your supervisor/contact person on the contract. Contact him/her before the work starts (the week before) so you will know where and what time you need to be on the first day of work.
