Hamina Rural Services is responsible for the services of the Farmer Support Administration in the Hamina, Kotka, Miehikkälä, Pyhtää and Virolahti cooperation area. There are approximately 490 active farms in our area, whose main production direction is crop cultivation, and the total area of ​​cultivated arable land is approximately 25,000 hectares (data from 2025).

In addition to statutory support tasks, our tasks include maintaining the animal keeper and holding register. We also actively cooperate with rural entrepreneurs by highlighting the businesses in the area and the services they offer.

Our office serves customers in the port of Hamina, office center in Kuorsalo, and services are available by appointment. Our area is responsible for temporary services. Southern Finland job placement services.

Hamina Rural Services is a showcase for the rural areas of southern Kymenlaakso. Rural Services provides farmer support administration services for the Hamina, Kotka, Pyhtää, Virolahti and Miehikkälä cooperation area, but is also a versatile rural developer. Rural Services' innovative team organizes events in the countryside in cooperation with entrepreneurs and other actors in the area, visits schools and engages in cross-sectoral cooperation in the city administration.

A map application to help farmers and beekeepers collaborate

Pollinators play a significant role in successful crop production, as approximately 75% of the world's crops are fully or partially dependent on pollinators.

The Finnish Beekeepers' Association (SML) maintains a map on its website where farmers can leave their contact information if they want bees to collect honey or pollinate their crops. The aim of the activity is to obtain a better quality and more abundant crop from crops through pollination for farmers and to find good honey collection areas for beekeepers. (27.3.2026)

Pest and disease monitoring and identification applications: Take advantage of new features on May 27.5th from 9-11 am

Did you choose the pest and disease monitoring and identification applications measure for your environmental commitment?

In the webinar you will hear about the new features in the applications and how to take into account the fulfillment of the conditions when using the applications. The presentations include AgriSmart, Luke KasKas (new application), Sirppi mobile application, My Farm – WisuEnnuste and RapsiApp. In addition to the applications presented in the webinar, the applications approved for the measure are Agriportal and Cordulus Farm.

Invasive species and forest pests – Identify the wild millet, the spiny bark beetle and many more June 12.6th at: 10:00- 11:30

You will learn, among other things, about the characteristics of the weedy millet, which is considered one of the world's most harmful invasive species. After the event, you will also be able to identify, for example, the spiny bark beetle and the multi-leafed beetle. You will also know how to control these and where to report any observations.
