An exhibition by the Art Collective 180° has opened at the Hamina Gallery Ruutikellari. When tomorrow is today. In the multi-art exhibition, dystopia is not just a horror picture of the future, but a silent echo of the present reality. The exhibition is built from a dialogue between painting, installation, textile and ceramic art as a fragmented world that has slipped off its axis. The works deal with human vulnerability and body control, social collapse and the traces of the system, the aesthetics of survival and the unknown future through materials, space and form. 

The archaic, stone-walled space of Galleria Ruutikellar emphasizes the thematic weight of the exhibition: it functions as both a refuge and a hostage – precisely the kind of space that dystopia hides in. The exhibition is both a spatial and temporal experience, where the viewer moves on the ruins of a fragile reality. 

The collective's name, 180°, refers to a turning point – a moment when we look back, differently, and anew. At the heart of the work is breaking the boundaries of art forms, exploring the relationship between space and the body, and using material as a vehicle for time, memory, and change.

Art collective 180° is a multidisciplinary art collective, whose core is crossing the boundaries of visual art and reinterpreting it. The collective consists of painters, jewelry and ceramic artists, printmakers, and installation and textile artists. The members are united by an interest in corporeality, materiality, and the exploration of the meanings of space and objects. The collective's activities are primarily located in the Kymenlaakso region, but the artists are also active internationally, participating in exhibitions and projects in, for example, other Nordic countries. The collective works in both traditional exhibition spaces and alternative environments, such as factory halls, natural sites, and digital contexts.

When tomorrow is today The exhibition is open until 16.7 July and admission is free. Galleria Ruutikellari is not a barrier-free space. The space is accessed via stone steps. The gallery's toilets are gender-neutral.
