Performers for the Normipäivä youth event announced!

The Normipäivä youth event will be held at Hamina Bastion again on Sunday, July 26, 2026. The event is free of charge, has no age limit and is alcohol-free.

We want to organize an event for young people that is truly interesting and in which everyone has the opportunity to participate.

says Nelli Tammelin, the young project manager of the Normipäivä team.

Normipäivä was organized for the first time in 2017. Since the beginning of the event, the guiding principle has been the “from young people to young people” principle. The Hamina Youth Council, together with other volunteer youth, independently plan and implement the Normipäivä event. They are assisted and guided in the implementation by employees of the youth services of the city of Hamina and the event production employees responsible for the operations of Hamina Bastion. In even-numbered years, the event is also organized in cooperation with the international military music festival Hamina Tattoo. This is also partly reflected in the program choices.

There will be a variety of activities, live music and a good atmosphere throughout the day – there is sure to be something for everyone!

says young Vilma Peri, a member of the Normipäivä team.

The voice of young people is heard in the selection of performers

This year, two different worlds will meet at the event, as Hamina Tattoo and the Hamina Youth Council join forces. Hamina Tattoo is naturally responsible for bringing in the military music, while the young people themselves have decided who the solo artists for the event will be.

Finnish Defence Forces Conscript Band Showband is a party band consisting of about 20 people, consisting of a group of accompanists, singers and wind players. The program is shaped exactly according to the type of music the incoming players are inclined to. Usually, the concerts feature a variety of groovy funk and soul, classic rock gems and today's pop and rap hits. The most common reaction of the audience after experiencing a Showband gig is joy, surprise and giving it their all. Can military music be like this? – Yes, it can.
