How do people in Kymenlaakso get around?
Do you walk or cycle to the store or school? Do you choose a car or bus for your commute? A mobility survey will be carried out in Kymenlaakso in September to investigate the mobility habits of residents in the region and their opinions on the needs for improving mobility conditions.
The mobility survey will be delivered to residents of Kymenlaakso through Iro Research Oy's research panel, via text message invitations based on random sampling, and for children and young people, through educational institutions. We hope you will respond to the survey if you receive an invitation! The survey is based on a population-based sample, so only those who have been invited can respond to the survey. For minors, the invitation will be sent to their guardians. The invitation is sent by Iro Research Oy.
The survey includes a travel diary that discusses the everyday trips of the area's residents and their purposes, as well as a section that investigates satisfaction with the conditions of walking, cycling, private car travel and public transport services. The travel diaries determine how much Kymenlaakso residents move and what modes of transport they use to make their trips. The satisfaction section, on the other hand, provides planners and decision-makers with important information about the conditions and development needs of different modes of transport. By answering, you are influencing the development of the transport systems of the municipalities and the province!
The last time a similar study was conducted in Kymenlaakso was in 2019. The results of the current study will be compared to the previous study to identify changes in mobility. In addition, the study will produce detailed regional information in addition to the national passenger transport study. The results of the 2019 survey can be viewed on the Kymenlaakso Region Association website..
The research is being carried out by Ramboll Finland Oy and Iro Research Oy on behalf of the South-Eastern Finland ELY Centre, the Kymenlaakso Region and the municipalities of the region.
