Landfill logging work begins in Tarmola
A landfill is being built in Tarmola, located in the Tarmola back loop area. Logging work will begin in the area this week. The work will not prevent the use of the fitness trail, but those using the area are asked to be careful due to the machinery moving along the route. The work is expected to last until the end of September.
The goal of constructing a landfill is efficient land use. Currently, wasteland that is unfit for construction can be utilized both from the perspective of infrastructure construction and outdoor recreation. Landscaped slopes can be utilized as outdoor recreation areas in the future, and can be used to place, for example, a network of walking trails, lean-tos, fitness stairs and observation towers.
The landfill will initially be used for temporary storage of excess clean construction materials. These materials can be used to build landfill edge embankments or for other city construction projects.
In addition, the ongoing forestry logging in the Tarmola area is nearing completion. Neither work will prevent the use of the fitness trail or lean-tos, but those traveling in the area are asked to be careful due to the machinery moving along the route.
