Kymenlaakso Sports Gala invites nominations for awards
The Kymenlaakso Sports Gala, an event organized by Kymenlaakso Liikunta, bringing together the region's sports and leisure community, will be held at Kouvola City Hall on Friday, January 29, 2027.
Who will be the athlete of the year? Who is the club activist of the year? Who is the children's movement activist of the year? Who deserves to be awarded for their life's work? Now you can make suggestions.
In some award categories, the person nominated/rewarded may be, for example, in early childhood education, school or another workplace.
There are many different categories to be awarded that are not tied to top-level sports. There are many background influencers who do basic work and people / entities who get people moving. The award categories include, for example, children's sportsman of the year, club active person of the year, most moving workplace of the year, youth sports leader of the year, fitness athlete of the year, etc.

The final decisions on who will be awarded are mainly made by the Kymenlaakso Sports Board. The decision on the regional sports act is made by the Kymenlaakso Federation. When awarding municipal sportsmen, each municipality submits a proposal to the awards jury. This way, at least one person from each municipality in the province will be awarded. This year, the so-called Grand Jury will also be in use for the tenth time. 15 influential people from the province from municipal and regional politics, businesses and sports clubs are invited to this. They are given 3-5 candidates, from which they vote for the Lifetime Achievement Award.
The aim of the regional sports gala is to promote regional spirit. The celebration highlights the expertise that Kymenlaakso's sports and physical education culture encompasses.
In addition to the awards ceremony, the celebration will feature performing artists.
