Free admission to Kymenlaakso Museum Week events
Museums are pop! During Kymenlaakso Museum Week from 2 to 7 June 2026, museums and their events can be visited for free. Experience the province's colorful past and active museums. A record number of museums are participating this year, including the museums of the city of Hamina.
The third Kymenlaakso Museum Week will be held from 2 to 7 June 2026, and you can enjoy the events even before then. The summer week offers exciting things to see and experience for both children and adults. For many museums that only operate in the summer, the event is also the opening of a new season. So now is the time to take a tour and explore the diverse museum offerings in Kymenlaakso! All events during the Museum Week are free of charge.
A total of 16 museums throughout Kymenlaakso will participate in the Museum Week. There will be, among other things, singing together, accordion music, workshops, walking and background tours, and nature adventures. If you are already feeling like dancing, there will be dances in the museum yard. Patruuna Pytinki is once again part of the Verla experience and now there is an opportunity to explore its restored premises.
The exhibitions offer a glimpse into, among other things, the Kymenlaakso forest industry, tar pits, pirtu smuggling, Moomin stories and the cultural history of the child's body. Glass art, the tradition of the fiddler and millstones are on display. During the week, you can also admire Magnus Enckell's archipelago landscapes and wonder how Kouvola has changed over the years.
Museum Week offers a great opportunity to explore the unique history of Kymenlaakso, and it's free of charge. And if you're interested in activities, that's now available too. It's great to see how diverse the museums have been in the week with their programs.
says Marja Salmijärvi, regional director of the Kymenlaakso Museum.
