The Urban Development Committee convened on October 15, 2025
The Hamina Urban Development Committee unanimously returned the market regulations to preparation. The regulations are scheduled to enter into force on 1 January 2026. The most significant changes will concern the number of markets, the permission of dogs and pets in the market area, and the extension of sales hours.
The committee noted the second interim report for 2025 and proposed changes to the city council's budget. An additional EUR 160,000 is proposed for investment. Additional funds are needed for the renovation of the Pyhällö school gym (EUR 100,000) and the City Hall's roof repair (EUR 60,000). The committee also noted the status report on Hamina's public transport in 2026 given by Public Transport Manager Esa Partanen.
The council initiative to convert the Kellokallio nursing home into a city hall emergency room has been discussed. The condition studies regarding the site are still ongoing, after which the reuse will be assessed in more detail. The Urban Development Committee will discuss the situation at Kellokallio once the condition study is completed.
The committee also decided to continue the construction of the Telakkatie boat winter storage area and the construction, HVAC and electrical works for the new building of the Uuden-Summa sports hall.
After review, the minutes will be available on the city's website from September 26, 2025.
