Urban Development Committee decisions 25.3.2026: Investments and the 2025 annual report were approved

The Hamina Urban Development Committee convened on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. The meeting discussed, among other things, the industry's 2025 annual report, the 2026 zoning review, temporarily rented the area as an assembly and storage area, and decided on the renovation of the streets and the underpass.

Committee approved its industry's 2025 annual report and further submit it to the city government and city council for consideration.

Committee approved the annual zoning review, which aims to inform city residents about pending and upcoming planning projects. The planning overview will be made available at the city's online service, the main library and on the city's website.

The committee also decided on several infrastructure renovations for 2026:

  • New Summa Phase IV and Uusi-Summa phase V: The renovations are ordered from Louhintahiekka Oy.
  • Renovation of Puutarhurintie and Jaakonkuja: The project will be commissioned from Peab Industri Oy.
  • Renovation of the sawmill underpass: The bridge renovation will be commissioned from Ratecon Oy.

The committee discussed a council initiative regarding the unbalanced placement of garbage cans in the urban area. The committee decided that urban development services launch a comprehensive assessment of garbage bin placement during 2026. The implementation of the project will take into account economic efficiency and available human resources.
