Elderly Council

The Senior Citizens' Council is a collaborative body of pensioner and elderly organizations operating in the Hamina city area, which examines issues from the perspective of the elderly.

According to Section 27 of the Local Government Act, the Senior Citizens' Council must be given the opportunity to influence the planning, preparation and monitoring of the activities of various departments of the municipality in matters that are of significance to the well-being, health, participation, living environment, housing, mobility or performance of daily activities of the elderly population, or the services they need. The aim is to improve the provision of services that meet the needs of the elderly and improve the survival and equal participation of the elderly population in society.

The welfare coordinator serves as the secretary of the Senior Citizens' Council.
