Announcements / official town announcements
An announcement refers to an official announcement by the city. It is an official procedure for providing information to the public or to those people whose lives it may affect. According to the Local Government Act, municipal announcements are made public by publishing them on the public information network and, if necessary, in another manner decided by the municipality. Announcements must be on the public information network for 14 days, unless otherwise required by the nature of the matter.
However, the Public Notices Act requires that a municipality must have a notice board for public notices. For example, notices from state regional and local government authorities must be published on the municipal notice board. The main rule of the City of Hamina is that matters to be announced are published primarily on the city's website and, if required by law, also on the notice board in the city hall. Certain units also have
requirements set by special legislation regarding the visibility of the matter.
Things to announce in the city are:
- city council meeting notice
- permits issued, for example for the sale of tobacco or the extraction of soil
- Reports made, for example about noise or construction
- street plans
- upcoming formulas
- Notification of planning decisions.
If the city deems it necessary, a notice of the matter may also be placed in the local newspaper.
