The City of Hamina is renewing its grant practicesThe Healthy Hamina resident grant practice, which has been in use for years, will be renewed in accordance with the decision of the Vitality and Wellbeing Committee starting at the end of 2025. Hamina communities will be offered the opportunity to apply for targeted grants and implement activities with the support of grant appropriations for the joy of Hamina residents and visitors in the early months of the year.
Separate targeted grants to be applied for in November are a new form of grant., which is being tested for the first time. Targeted grants can be applied for, for example, to implement a single event in January–March 2026.
The application period for target grants has ended..
The project name is written in the Target Grants application. project planfor which the grant is being applied, i.e. clearly presenting what the grant is planned to be used for and how it is planned to be used. It is equally important to present the project budget clearly. The presentation of costs and potential revenues should clearly indicate what the city grant is intended to be used for, and how other project costs are to be covered. If the project has other grants applied for or received, it is worth presenting their allocation clearly so that it does not appear that several grants have been applied for for the same purpose. Applying for other grants for the same project is possible, as long as they are not allocated to the same costs in the plan.
If you wish, you can also prepare the project plan and budget as separate attachments and send them to the application as attachments to kulttuuri@hamina.fi.
Note! Attachments must also be submitted within the application deadline. Attachments received late will not be taken into account in the preparation and decision-making process.
Decisions for the targeted grant application will be prepared in December, when the city council has confirmed the city's budget for 2026. The operators will be able to use the awarded grants as early as the beginning of January.
The use of targeted grants will be reported by the end of 2026. Instructions for reporting will be sent to applicants along with the grant decisions.
The overall aim is to develop the application process for grants awarded by the city in an increasingly appropriate and open direction in dialogue with the Hamina field of actors. The application will be designed to be as agile as possible for applicants, preparers and decision-makers. For example, the November target grant application does not yet need to include the entire action plan and budget for the following year. It is sufficient for the applications and application attachments to indicate for which separate purpose (work or project plan) the grant is being applied for.

The purpose of the foundation is to promote the well-being of the elderly and the aging in the area of the city of Hamina. The foundation grants grants to associations and organizations that organize activities for Hamina residents over the age of 65. The foundation is managed and represented by the foundation's board, which is an independent entity. The welfare promotion unit of the city of Hamina coordinates the grant process, but decisions on grants are made by the foundation's board.
The foundation promotes the social status of the elderly and senior citizens, supports coping at home, organizes educational, meeting and celebration events, organizes and supports recreational and club activities, maintains support functions and supports caregivers. Secures and maintains exercise opportunities for people over 65 years of age.
Priority areas for awarding grants:
– activities related to promoting physical activity
– activities promoting cultural well-being
– activities that increase the well-being of caregivers
The application period has ended, the next application will be in the fall of 2026.
Statutory services that are the responsibility of the City of Hamina or the Kymenlaakso Welfare Region are not subsidized.

Grant guidelines and practices are being updated in a streamlined manner and to meet the needs of applicants. Alongside the old forms of grant, this year we will be experimenting for the first time with separate additional search for targeted grants. Targeted grants, which are applied for in November for the beginning of the following year, are intended for for operations in early 2026, which the grants from the Healthy Hamina Citizens grant application do not yet have time to cover. The grants for the target grants will follow the euro amounts of the target grants awarded in the Healthy Hamina Citizens call, with a maximum of approximately 3000-4000 euros per target applied for. The grants are always discretionary depending on the target of the grant and how credible and high-quality the application with its project plans and budget appears.
The new target grant procedure does not replace or eliminate the old Healthy Hamina Citizen grant application, which will be opened to applicants from 24 November and will be open until 5 January 2026 at 4:00 p.m. The general application period for 2026 grants has therefore also been slightly brought forward and extended at the request of the communities. The practice of small grants applied for throughout the year will also be maintained and developed to be more agile; in the future, applications will be processed and granted regularly, approximately every month. Individual residents of the municipality, working groups or companies can also apply for small grants.
Answer the survey, have an impact and help make the grant application even better!
Grant applicants will also be consulted when reforming grant practices. This With a Forms survey The survey will map out what the experience of applying for grants is like for the actors applying for them in Hamina. The answers to the survey will provide information for the development of grant practices. The survey will be completed anonymously and without contact information. If the person completing the survey wants to receive direct answers to their questions, they can leave their contact information at the end of the survey.
