Children's rights

of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child is a human rights treaty concerning children (all people under the age of 18). The treaty aims to guarantee fundamental rights, such as health, education, equality and security, for all children.

The agreement was approved. At the UN General Assembly November 20, 1989 and has been signed by 196 countries, Finland signed the agreement in 1991.

The four basic principles of the agreement are:

  • Non-discrimination
  • Taking into account the best interests of the child
  • The right to life and development
  • Respecting the child's perspective
