Hamina's hobby model
Fun and free activities for students during school days
The Finnish model of hobbies aims to promote the well-being of children and young people. They are offered enjoyable and free hobbies during school days.
Municipalities organize recreational activities for students in grades 1–9 of basic education throughout the school year. Recreational activities are organized at schools and in their surrounding areas before and after the school day. There are no recreational activities on days when the school is closed.
You can start the hobby without any previous experience or knowledge.
Municipalities' hobby offerings are planned based on the wishes of children and young people. For example, there may be a sports club, an art club, a cooking group, a digital game group and many other hobbies.
The 2025-2026 season's recreational activities have ended. The new season will start again in September 2026!
