Education and Training Committee meeting on September 24, 2025: No common curfew recommendations will be set

The Hamina Education and Training Committee decided in its meeting on 24 September that no common curfew recommendations would be set. The issue had been clarified through surveys of students and their guardians. 59% of guardians supported the recommendations, but 84,1% of students opposed them. Experts also say that the responsibility for curfews lies primarily with parents, and support should be provided to families who have difficulty setting limits.

The committee approved the updated study care plan for pre-school and basic education, as well as the assessment criteria for mother tongue, literature and mathematics for grades 1–2. In addition, the assessment criteria for behavior for grades 1–3 were approved as part of the city's basic education curriculum.

Updated criteria for admission to secondary schools were approved for implementation from October 1. The committee also decided to note the report on the survey of immigrant students.

After review, the minutes will be available on the city's website from September 26, 2025.
