The Education and Training Committee will convene on August 13, 2025

The Hamina Education and Training Committee will convene on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at 17:00 PM at the Town Hall. The meeting's agenda includes, among other things, index adjustments to early childhood education client fees and the expansion of transportation benefits for young schoolchildren.

Key topics of the meeting:

  • Early childhood education client fees and service voucher ceiling prices: The committee will discuss the statutory index adjustments that will come into effect on 1 August 2026. The new maximum fee for early childhood education will be 335 euros per month as a result of the index adjustment. At the same time, decisions will be made on updating the ceiling prices for private early childhood education service vouchers and the billing prices for early childhood education for children from other localities.
  • School transportation benefit for 1st–2nd graders: The agenda includes expanding the transportation benefit to cover school trips of more than three kilometers for 1st and 2nd graders. This change is scheduled to come into effect on August 1, 2026.
  • Update on space rents: The rents for educational and training services are proposed to be updated starting from September 1, 2026. The Uuden-Summa School gymnasium has been added to the price list as a new item, which is scheduled to be put into use at the beginning of September.
  • Update of the student care plan: The City of Hamina's pre-school and primary education student care plan will be updated to comply with the regulations of the Student and Student Care Act and the curriculum principles. The Hamina pre-school and primary education medication treatment plan and the student's individual medication treatment plan will also be added as an appendix to the plan.
  • Civic College Curriculum 2026: The committee notes the new curriculum of Hamina Community College, which serves as an important tool for developing pedagogy and ensuring the quality of teaching.
