Decisions of the Education and Training Committee 20.5.2026

The Hamina Education and Training Committee convened on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. The meeting decided, among other things, to expand the transportation benefit for young schoolchildren and to make index adjustments to early childhood education customer fees.

Key decisions of the meeting:

• Expanding the school transportation benefit for 1st–2nd graders: The committee decided to extend the school transportation benefit for 1st and 2nd graders to cover school trips of more than three kilometers. The change will improve the safety of young schoolchildren and will come into effect on August 1, 2026.
• Early childhood education client fees and service voucher ceiling prices: The committee approved the statutory index adjustments that will enter into force on 1 August 2026. The new maximum fee for early childhood education is 335 euros per month as a result of the index adjustment. At the same time, updates to the ceiling prices for private early childhood education service vouchers and the billing prices for early childhood education for children from other localities were confirmed.
• Update on space rents: It was decided to update the rents for educational and training services starting from September 1, 2026. The Uuden-Summa School gym was added to the price list as a new item.
• Update of the student care plan: It was decided to update the City of Hamina's pre-school and basic education student care plan to comply with the regulations of the Pupil and Student Care Act and the principles of the curriculum. At the same time, the Hamina pre-school and basic education drug care plan was approved as an appendix to the plan.
• Civic College Curriculum 2026: The committee noted the new curriculum of Hamina Community College.
