The Revelations exhibition opens at the Hamina Library Gallery

The joint exhibition of three artists opens on Wednesday, September 3.9rd and will be open until Tuesday, September 30.9th according to the opening hours of the main library.

Revelation is the moment when another reality comes into the visible world or The experiencer suddenly experiences a vision that is different from the everyday.

The group of three Uusimaa visual artists, “Two Outias and One Sinikka” (2Outia1Sinikka), will bring their Ilmestykä exhibition to the Hamina Library Gallery in September. The exhibition is open from Wednesday 3 September to Tuesday 30 September in the library square: Mon–Fri 12–19 and Sat 10–14. In addition, during self-guided hours, on weekdays 8–12, you can access the library and the Library Gallery with your own library card.

The Revelations exhibition invites the viewer to experience moments in which another reality enters the visible world, or in which the experiencer suddenly receives a vision that is different from the everyday.

From the works:

Outi Mietala
“The moon sailing before our eyes from the hidden world of the night, an autumn storm that suddenly began, plants that grew from seeds into dancing vines overnight… The miraculous essence of such images have been the sources of inspiration for my works in our exhibition.”

Outi Turtiainen
"As a painting technique, I use a continuous process, where the end result is often also the beginning and growth ground for new projects. In the Ilmestykä exhibition, my acrylic paintings seek the mystery of nature behind visible reality…”

Sinikka Ustinov-Jones
"From the depths of the earth to ceramics. Clay, water, movement, air, fire and the creative frenzy combine to make it durable. My works spring from my dreams or imaginations and I combine different materials in them. My ceramic works rise as if from the earth of the dark ages into blooming stones, concretely depicting mythical mysteries.”

Working group 2Outia1Sinikka

A group of three visual artists from Uusimaa have been holding joint exhibitions for twenty years. They became friends 25 years ago at the Pekka Halonen Academy and later graduated from the Art and Communication Unit of Tampere University of Applied Sciences. In the early years, the group had five members and was known as “Female Artists Group Five”. The current trio has continued their collaboration since 2002.

Over the decades, the artists have held numerous exhibitions together in galleries, museums, and also in places where a passerby can encounter visual art without looking for it. They have each found a commonly inspiring theme, around which the artists' works have formed an interesting whole that engages in dialogue.

More information about the artists:

Outi Mietala works primarily through painting. At the core of his visual art is the depiction of change, and his works often take the form of serials: “Since the entire universe is in constant change, this background idea gives me endless topics and subthemes for my work.”
Mietala's works are mainly abstract, a changing dance of colors, shapes, composition, movement, light and contrasts. He usually does not make sketches, but lets his intuition guide his work according to the color or shape required by some interesting starting point – external observation or internal emotional state. Often, however, the starting point changes as the work progresses, a solution made requires something unpredictable to be done, and when the work is finished – when nothing more needs to be done to it – and the artist looks at it, it is as if something/someone unknown is looking back.

Outi Turtiainen has experienced the introduction to different forms of art making during his art studies as developing and joyful, but painting has always spoken to him most deeply. Strong colors, the world of secrets conjured by light and shadows, and the intense emotional response created by music and rhythm have fascinated Turtiainen since he was very young; they all create the foundation from which the artist's creative process begins. Turtiainen uses a continuous process as a painting technique, whereby the end result is often also the beginning and growth ground for new projects.

Sinikka Ustinov-Jones The works range from drawings to sculptures and ceramics to textiles. He is enthusiastic about new things and likes to experiment and combine different materials and techniques, which vary according to interest, subject or “treasure” he has found. Working with different or alternative materials can give the artist new ideas or solutions for his work.
