Vehkalahti Village Museum
Vehkalahti Village Museum in Husula village offers museum experiences for all ages! At the crossroads of paths – the exhibition leads to the sea, the land and the forest: we get to know the rural villages of the 1870s-1950s around the city of Hamina. The old elementary school has a variety of things to touch and see, from custom-made folk costumes to a coffee grinder. In the functional school classroom, you can sit at the old desks of the Pyhällö school or on the teacher's podium and try, for example, counting on a bead board. The village museum organizes various events and art exhibitions in the summer.
During the summer season, you can find yard toys in the yard of the old elementary school, such as a sandbox, hula hoops and wooden legs. The medieval blacksmith of Hamina sometimes works in the workshop. In the museum area, you can explore the Vehkalahti Trail of Stories. Finnish sheep graze in the pasture. Captivating traditional perennials complement the greenery of the yard. Bring your own lunch and come and explore village life!
The village museum is located in Vehkalahti's first elementary school building, built in 1871. The building has housed a museum since 1960.

Parking is available at the sports field parking lot (Rentukkatie 12), from where it is a approx. 200 m walk along the forest path to the museum area. There are 3 disabled spaces in the museum courtyard (Kuninkaantie 3).
There is an accessible outdoor toilet in the museum area. The museum area is partially accessible. There are stairs leading to the buildings and they have thresholds. The area is hilly.
