Tour of the Simple Life – Summertime in the Archipelago exhibition at the Holvikellar in Hamina City Museum
A cottage by the sea is a dream for many. In the summer, people still live on the islands of Tammio and Kuorsalo in Hamina in a surprisingly similar way to a hundred years ago, and not every house even has electricity. What has changed in the archipelago and what is still the same? What kind of bells does the legacy of fishing and pilot families still ring in the hearts of the summer islanders? On the exhibition tour, we will learn about the lives of summer residents over the past hundred years, the consequences of modernization, community spirit, and the inspiring power of the archipelago's nature.
The tour lasts 45 minutes. The maximum group size is 25 people.

The price of the guided tour does not include museum admission. Members of groups of more than 10 people can enter the museum with a discounted ticket.
On weekdays after 16 pm and on weekends outside museum opening hours, groups are charged a fee for opening the museum for the group.

State, land and sea – Hamina is located on many borders. On a tour of the Eras and Contemporaries exhibition, we will learn about the history of the fortified town as a home and workplace, especially in the 1700th and 1800th centuries. In terms of functional tasks, we will reflect on the significance of the border in people's everyday lives.

In the footsteps of ancient hunters
1st-2nd grade, Eskarit (approx. 30 min)
When and where did the first people settle and what was it like to live in the Hamina area during the Stone Age? On an active tour, we will learn about the lives of ancient hunter-gatherers and explore Stone Age excavation findings.
Group size one school class (max. 25 students).
Cultural path for 5th graders in Hamina – Hamina as a home: functional tour and workshop (90 min)
Where do you live and where do you come from? Who lived in the same place 150 years ago and where did they come from? On an active visit to the Hamina City Museum, 5th graders will learn about their home region before and now. During the tour, students will learn about Hamina's previous residents and their professions. The tour includes both reflection with a guide and active tasks in the museum exhibition and in the Museum's Vintti workshop space on the upper floor of the museum. The visit is not physically accessible.
Group size: one school class/combined class. Museum tour and workshop are free of charge.
