Fishing areas
The Hamina area has good fishing spots both at sea and on river banks. However, please remember that fishing generally requires a permit.
Hamina Water Area
The Town of Hamina has authorized the Kymenlaakso Fisheries Inspectors Association to carry out surveillance in the water area of Hamina.

Instructions and regulations regarding net fishing in the waters of the Town of Hamina
Reference: Fisheries Act 379/20151) General
- Fishing areas and no-fishing areas are marked on the map "Water areas of the Town of Hamina"
- Net fishing is completely prohibited north of the Takkaniemi-Skipparinniemi border in the waters of Hamina. See map.
- Net fishing in the fishway is completely prohibited.
- The right to use nets may not be transferred to another person.
2) Tagging of gear
- The net flag and reflector (according to the Fishing Act, fishing gear must be marked so that it is clearly visible to others on the water.)
- On ice: a visible rock or log and a reflector. The markings must be removed before the ice breaks.
- Always also have a sign indicating fishing rights and the name and contact information (phone number) of the person who has set up the fishing gear. In winter, above the ice.
- Flag strings and other strings must be weighted or otherwise prevented from causing any harm.
- In summer, mark the outer end of the net if the net is close to the shore.

3) Number of networks
- A maximum of 8 net permits / fishing municipality (4 low, 4 high), max. 240 m / fishing municipality.
- You can put several nets in the same line of fishnets that are connected together.
4) Minimum mesh size allowed
- whitefish 50 mm
- pike perch 50 mm
- salmon 80 mm
- Surface net fishing for trout is prohibited (surface net: net completely or partially 1,5 m closer to the water surface)
5) Lower limit
- fat-finned sea trout is completely protected
- fat-finned sea trout 50 cm
- pike perch 45 cm
