Sports venues and facilities
Hamina has diverse opportunities for exercising, both indoors and outdoors. The most extensive sports facility is located in Ruissalo, but there are a plenty of sports facilities in other areas of Hamina as well.
The most popular indoor sports facilities are gyms. The largest user group is sports clubs. In addition to gyms, many residents' favorites include swimming pools, ice rinks, and various ball fields, many of which are frozen over in the winter to become skating arenas.

Principles and procedures for allocating shifts for the use of sports venues and facilities in the City of Hamina
The distribution principles and procedural guidelines are valid until further notice.
-
- Shifts are requested electronically through the ASIO reservation system.
- Regular shifts are applied for separately each year for the summer season in February-March and for the winter season in April-May, and application times are announced on the city's website at www.hamina.fi / current affairs mobile hamina.
- Shifts must be requested collectively by one person/company.
- Shifts are requested only based on actual need, and the size of the space requested must be proportionate to the size of the training group and the needs of the sport.
- The applicant must specify the shifts already during the application phase, juniors under 18 years of age physical education or adults physical education.
- There is no right of cancellation for standard shifts. The cancellation date for shifts will be announced before the start of the summer and winter seasons.
- Only applications received during the application period will be considered. Applications received before or after the application period will be rejected.
- After the shifts are published, those who missed the shift allocation can apply for free shifts through the ASIO reservation system. Free shifts can be applied for throughout the season.
-
- The city's own activities (guided exercise by sports services, guided exercise by community college, school activities)
- Sports clubs and associations in Hamina
- When distributing training and competition shifts, priority is given to the needs of children and young people, while ensuring that adult competition and match activities are possible.
- Shifts are granted based on the purpose of the facility and the suitability of the species.
- Sports practice generally takes precedence over supplementary training sessions.
- Appointments requested for the entire season (winter season / summer season) will be given priority (indoor sports have priority in halls, outdoor sports on outdoor fields).
- Adult leisure shifts are generally scheduled after 7:30 p.m.
- Series matches and tournaments confirmed by sports associations are given priority over other applicants, if possible. Matches should be arranged primarily during their own training shifts or at a time other than other associations' training shifts. If clubs want to swap shifts with each other on a one-off basis, they can swap individual shifts. The city's sports facilities must always be notified of any changes to shifts.
- A shift is granted only for the members of the sports club or other community that has applied for the shift.
- Shifts will not be granted if the applicant has unpaid shift fees.
-
- The decision on the shifts will be sent to the organizations that have applied for shifts by email to the address that the customer has entered when registering in the ASIO reservation system.
- The shift or part of it may not be passed on to another club or user group without the city's permission and pricing.
- In accordance with the rules of procedure of the City of Hamina's Vitality and Wellbeing Committee, the inclusion and well-being manager decides on the shifts based on a proposal from the sports venue manager and the inclusion and sports coordinator.
-
- The association that receives the shift is obliged to pay the usage fee according to the valid price list. Shifts are invoiced monthly in arrears.
- The association that has received the shift is obliged to notify the city if the shift contact person or mailing/invoicing address changes.
- If the allocated time slot is not used without cancellation within the specified time limit, a usage fee according to the current price list will be charged for the slot.
-
- The cancellation period for granted standard shifts is 30 days from the decision, after which the applicant is committed to the standard shift they have chosen for the entire period, excluding the cessation of club activities or the interruption of group activities for the standard shift in question. The club must notify the city's sports facilities in writing or electronically, at which point the shift is freed up for use by others, and the club that has given up the shift will not be billed for the shift in question.
- Individual shifts, as well as practices, matches, tournaments and other events, must be cancelled in Asio, as a rule, 7 days before the reservation.
- The city may temporarily cancel an allocated slot. If possible, cancellations will be announced one week before the slot in question. Those who miss their slot are not entitled to compensation for the missed training, competition or match slot.
- The city will cancel the allocated shifts if the community has two months of unpaid shift fees. The cancellation of the shift will take effect at the beginning of the following calendar month.
- a) New shifts will not be granted to applicants who have unpaid space rent.
- b) Already granted usage shifts will be cancelled if space rent is unpaid for two months.
- c) Shifts can only be returned to use once payments have been made in full and any breaches of contract have been agreed upon. Shifts will be returned one week after payment.
- d) The inclusion and well-being manager has the authority to implement the decision, inform the reservist about the matter and make the necessary changes to the reservation system based on the proposal of the sports venue manager.
-
- The assigned shift times are adhered to and the space must be empty when the next shift begins.
- The person who has reserved a turn has the right to use only the space allocated to them.
- The premises are kept in order and follow the instructions of the staff. The user ensures that the doors remain closed during the shift in those places where there is no staff. The user also ensures that the premises are not entered during the shift and that no unauthorized persons are present.
- Users are responsible for ensuring that the premises and equipment are in good condition and that the equipment is in its correct place in the warehouse at the end of the shift. Users are responsible for the cleanliness of the warehouses.
- The premises must be kept clean and tidy. Intentional mess will be charged according to the current price list.
- If the equipment provided to the user is broken or is likely to break, the staff of the facility or location must be notified.
- In the event of a violation, the law on damages will be followed.
- The city may cancel allocated shifts if instructions are not followed.
