Art exhibitions and gallery spaces
CURRENTLY:
Art Collective 180°: When Tomorrow is Today art exhibition
When tomorrow is today is a multidisciplinary exhibition in which dystopia is not just a terrifying image of the future, but a silent echo of contemporary reality. The exhibition is built from a dialogue between painting, installation, textile and ceramic art as a fragmented world that has slipped off its axis.
The works deal with:
- human vulnerability and body control
- societal collapse and traces of the system
- aesthetics of survival: protection, mask, ritual
- unknown future through materials, space and form
The archaic, stone-walled space of Galleria Ruutikellar emphasizes the thematic weight of the exhibition: it functions as both a refuge and a hostage – precisely the kind of space that dystopia hides in. The exhibition is both a spatial and temporal experience, where the viewer moves on the ruins of a fragile reality.
Art collective 180° presentation:
Art collective 180° is a multidisciplinary art collective, whose core is the crossing and reinterpretation of the boundaries of visual art. The collective consists of painters, jewelry and ceramic artists, printmakers, as well as installation and textile artists. The members are united by an interest in corporeality, materiality, and the exploration of the meanings of space and objects.
The activities are primarily located in the Kymenlaakso region. Art exhibitions have been organized in, for example, Kotka, Kouvola and Loviisa. The collective's artists are also active internationally, participating in exhibitions and projects in, for example, the Nordic countries. The collective works in both traditional exhibition spaces and alternative environments, such as factory halls, natural sites and digital contexts.
180° refers to a turning point – a moment when we look back, differently, anew. At the heart of the activity is breaking the boundaries of art forms, exploring the relationship between space and the body, and using material as a vehicle for time, memory and change.
Art collective 180° members: Salli Ruoste, Loviisa, Elina Tuittu, Kotka, Emma Honka, Kotka, Yulia Tervo, Hamina, Inka Günther, Lahti and Minja Kautiainen, Kouvola

Henna Reunanen: HERart – Unlimited Brush art exhibition and Päivikki Puonti: INTEGRATED BROKEN aphorism exhibition
Henna Reunanen's exhibition features art using mixed media. "Limitless Brush" depicts creativity that is not limited to a specific mold.
The theme of Päivikki Puonni's aphorism exhibition revolves around a person's contact with others and oneself. It delves into what a person experiences in life; a person who has been "broken to pieces" can be put back together like a mirror. Meaning more than just heartbreak, for example. The most important thing about the exhibition is that it would bring new perspectives on life paths, as everyone has their own; "choose or not choose". The hope of the exhibition is that the answers to the questions would not be found in the author himself; but that the reader of the aphorism would make their own decisions from what they read.
The exhibition will be on display at the Hamina Library Gallery from 3.6. to 16.7.2026. The exhibition is open during the main library's opening hours from Monday to Thursday, 12-19 and on Fridays, 12-16. During the library's own opening hours, admission is possible with a library card from 8-12 on weekdays. Exceptions: Thursday 18.6. 10-14 and Friday 19.6. closed. Ritva Lakka's exhibition at the Library Gallery of Hamina Main Library presents acrylic and watercolor paintings from 2019–2026. The exhibition is aimed at all art lovers and offers a diverse overview of natural and landscape phenomena.
The exhibition examines the life cycle of plants, the changing elements of the landscape such as water, sky and trees, different times of day and year. In addition, there are quiet, atmospherically static everyday objects and still lifes on display. Some of the works approach the landscape through abstraction, where form and color create a mood rather than a recognizable image.
– I hope that the exhibition offers a whole in which the viewer's own atmospheric memories and experiences find space – how what I see and experience speaks to me, says Ritva Lakka.
Ritva Lakka is an active artist and also shares her work on Instagram: @ritvalakka_art.

The photography exhibition offers a glimpse into the forest and meadow, among other things, and into the everyday lives of several different animal species. — Each animal has its own story – some hide, some look directly at the camera, says photographer Hostikka.
In the exhibition, children, together with their adults, can think about, for example, what kind of sound this animal makes; where the animal lives and what kind of family it has. Some of the animals we know are such that the child or even their parents may never have met them in real life. Nature is full of many kinds of friends and wonders — Will the viewer recognize all the plants and trees, or animals in the pictures, Hostikka ponders. A photography exhibition can also be a good place to examine one's own relationship with nature, and how other kinds of nature are part of one's everyday life.

OPEN SEARCH // OPEN CALL
Are you interested in exhibition spaces for your own exhibition? // Are you interested in exhibition spaces for your own exhibition?
[English below]
Hamina Library Gallery ja Gallery of the Powder Cellar and The manor room of the Vehkalahti Village Museum The small-scale exhibition space will be available for use in 2027 and will be open for applications again in September 2026.
Selection decisions will be made immediately after the application period and will be announced to all applicants in mid-October (week 42–43), or by early November at the latest. This will give selected artists and art communities the opportunity to include the selection information in potential grant applications in the autumn applications in October-November.
The centralised exhibition search for free exhibition spaces, implemented since 2022, structures the work related to exhibition activities and creates a clear and accessible art field for a wide range of actors from the application process. This year, the open search has also included the Vehkalahti Village Museum, maintained by the museums of the city of Hamina, where small-scale art exhibition and workshop activities were piloted in the summer season of 25.
The open application is submitted using the Forms application form. Only applicants who complete the form by the deadline will be considered in the selection process.
All exhibition spaces are free of charge, and no commission is charged for any sales of works.
Search criteria, and who can participate in the search?
You can participate in the exhibition search as an individual, a community, a working couple or a group. The applicant can be a professional artist or a group of professionals, but art enthusiasts can also participate in the search.
The Hamina Library Gallery and the Village Museum can display works by a wide variety of artists, and also present a fairly wide range of cultural activities. Galleria Ruutikellar, in turn, is profiled as an exhibition venue for professional art. An installation fee of 400 euros/exhibition is paid for exhibitions at Galleria Ruutikellar. This is intended to remove at least some of the financial obstacles to bringing an exhibition to Hamina from a slightly further afield, as part of the Ars Hamina summer exhibitions.
Exhibition selections are made based on the exhibition descriptions and any attached files entered in the applications. The search values the applicant's vision, and makes room for artists at different stages of their artistic career. The selections are also influenced by the applicants' schedule wishes, and how the submitted exhibition proposals are technically suitable for the available spaces. In the selection of the exhibition space at Vehkalahti Village Museum, emphasis is also placed on the applicants' proposals for workshops or other events to be held alongside the exhibition, as part of the museum's summer program.
The exhibition selections will be made by a working group consisting of the Hamina events and culture team and the staff of the city's museums. In addition to the website of the city of Hamina, the search has been announced through the art societies of Kymenlaakso and South Karelia, national art societies and Hamina's cultural associations.
Exhibition spaces and times
All exhibition spaces are free of charge, and no commission is charged for any sales of works. There are two different types of gallery spaces available (floor plans and technical information below). The same application can be used to offer an exhibition for both spaces. The exhibition times at the Library Gallery in 2026 will be approximately 5-6 weeks long, starting in February and continuing until December 2026. An exhibition thematically targeted at children or families has been applied for in February as part of the Children's Culture Weeks festival.
We also offer supervised exhibition shifts at Galleria Ruutikellari, lasting approximately 5–6 weeks, but only during the summer season. Ruutikellari is not generally open to the public, and keeping the space open and exhibition supervision is arranged separately.
The Vehkalahti Village Museum has applied for only one summer exhibition in the exhibition space of the manor house for the entire summer in 2026. The exhibition will be open according to the museum's summer opening hours. The exhibition organizer is also asked to submit suggestions for functional content related to the exhibition, such as 1–2 workshops with free planning, a guided tour of the exhibition, a meeting with the artist or other activities open to some audiences/participants during the exhibition period, as part of the Village Museum's summer season program. It is possible to agree on material compensation with the museum if the exhibition period includes open workshop activities.
It is possible to view the premises of the Vehkalahti Village Museum in advance.
