The opening concert of Hamina Tattoo will feature two world-class maritime bands – the Finnish Navy Band and Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy. The theme of the concert is the Baltic Sea – our common sea and a symbol of overall security that unites cultures and peoples. Classical wind music will be on offer: we will hear maritime music from both Finland and abroad. The military bands will perform their own spectacular ensembles, after which the Opening Concert will culminate in a joint performance.

The Finnish Navy Band, founded in 1919, is the representative orchestra of the Navy, which has performed in addition to its domestic performances in recent years at international military music events in London, Oslo and Bremen. The Navy Band operates in the historic Heikkilä barracks area. The band last performed at the Hamina Tattoo in 2022.

The Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy is the official music unit of the Royal Netherlands Navy. The band is based in the port city of Rotterdam. The band, which will be seen in Hamina for the first time, has performed at international Tattoo events before and is known for its collaboration with marine bands from other countries.

By purchasing in advance, you can enjoy delicious menus in the atmospheric restaurant located in the vaulted rooms before the performance. There is also the opportunity to purchase food and drinks from several outlets on site one hour before the start of the performance. Food&Events Event Restaurants is responsible for the restaurant services offered in connection with the Hamina Tattoo Opening Concert.
