Great news – Google's community support grants allow us to support children and young people in Hamina at school and during their free time!
Physical play to support the learning of young people in Hamina
The purchase of iWall physical play walls supports learning by combining physical activity and gaming into the school day. Physical play strengthens concentration, motivation and school success, as well as the ability of young people to function. The project is an innovative way to increase physical activity in the school environment in a way that is inspiring, especially for middle school students. The community support grant awarded to the Mobile School project made it possible to purchase two play walls in Hamina. The play walls can now be found at Pappilansalmi and Vehkalahti comprehensive schools.
Evolving Ruissalo youth center grant
The community support grant received by the youth services will be used to update computers and peripheral equipment at the Ruissalo youth farm. The aim is to curb the digital divide and enable young people to have an accessible user experience in the gaming and digital world. At the same time, the necessary software licenses for the youth services' AV workshop and training related to drone use will be acquired.
Children and young people have access to the equipment weekly at the gyms and in e-sports clubs as part of the Hamina hobby model and e-sports coaching. E-sports clubs offer young people the opportunity to learn and develop their skills in technology, gaming and fine motor skills.
Ekami's information and communications students will be involved in the maintenance of old computers, after which they will be donated to associations and/or organizations. Suggestions for donation destinations are welcome!
