Hamina's councils for the disabled and the elderly met
Hamina's councils for the disabled and the elderly held their organizational meetings on September 8, 2025. Both old veterans and new representatives were recruited for the new council term.
Hamina City Disability Council is a cooperation body for the city and disability organizations operating in its area. According to Section 28 of the Local Government Act, the disability council must be given the opportunity to influence the planning, preparation and monitoring of the activities of various departments of the municipality in matters that are of significance to the well-being, health, participation, living environment, housing, mobility or performance of daily activities of persons with disabilities, or the services they need.

Elderly Council is a cooperative body of pensioner and elderly organizations operating in the Hamina city area, which examines issues from the perspective of the elderly.
According to Section 27 of the Local Government Act, the Senior Citizens' Council must be given the opportunity to influence the planning, preparation and monitoring of the activities of various departments of the municipality in matters that are of significance to the well-being, health, participation, living environment, housing, mobility or performance of daily activities of the elderly population, or the services they need. The aim is to improve the provision of services that meet the needs of the elderly and improve the survival and equal participation of the elderly population in society.
