The City of Hamina is building a sustainable future – economic adjustment aims to renew the service structure
In January 2026, the Hamina City Government launched economic adjustment planning and, to support the related measures, commissioned financial consultants from FCG to conduct a survey of the economic outlook of the city of Hamina and assess the need for adjustment.
The process has started with a 360-degree analysis and ongoing interviews with officials. In February, the results will be reviewed by the City Board, which will act as the steering group for the process. The steering group will make a decision on the means to move forward, and these will be submitted to the City Council for final decision-making in April, together with the service network plan. The ultimate goal of the adjustments is to bring the city's basic service structure to a financially sustainable level. The goal is to achieve balance in 2028.
