The city of Hamina has joined the national energy efficiency agreement!

We have joined the new municipal energy efficiency agreement for the period 2026–2035. This means that we commit to improving our energy efficiency in a systematic and targeted manner.

What is an energy efficiency contract?

Energy efficiency agreements are agreements between the state and various sectors that guide industry, the energy and service sectors, the real estate sector and the public sector to use energy more efficiently through voluntary means. The agreement period that is starting now is the fourth in a row and has been concluded for the years 2026–2035.

Energy efficiency agreements have become an established part of Finnish energy policy over the decades. They play an important role in Finland's climate and energy strategy and support Finland's goal of being carbon neutral by 2035.

The energy efficiency agreements have been widely signed by the state administration and various sectors. The Ministry of Employment and the Economy, the Ministry of the Environment, the Energy Agency, the Confederation of Finnish Industries EK, the Food and Beverage Industries Federation, the Energy Industry, the Chemical Industry, the Forest Industry, the Technology Industry, the Finnish Trade Federation, the Tourism and Restaurant Services Federation MaRa, the Finnish Automotive Industry Federation, the Real Estate Owners and Developers Association Rakli, the Association of Local and Regional Authorities and the Regional Farm Centre are involved.
