The Hamina City Board discussed the sale of the property 75-403-876-1 zoning district and the buildings located on it (Tullimakasiini, Suolamakasiini and Tapas bar) at its meeting held yesterday, June 1, 2026. The City Board decided in its meeting to accept the purchase offer made by Offeror A, which supports the development of the vitality of the city and Tervasaari.

Disengaging from the property is a financial benefit for the city 

The city has set itself the goal of sustainable economy and property maintenance, which involves getting rid of unnecessary and heavily repaired properties. The property in question has a repair debt of approximately 1 million euros, and the property has been removed from the city's investment list due to sale. When the city gets rid of the property, it will be freed from the significant repair debt and maintenance costs, transferring the responsibility for development investments to the entrepreneur. This solution is in the long-term interest of economic development and the citizens.

New vitality and services for Tervasaari 

The sale of the customs warehouse brings new vitality to Hamina and meets the city's strategic goals. The transaction will bring significant new private investments, employment and tax revenues to the area. The buyer's goal is to renovate the protected warehouses for restaurant and conference use and to build a completely new Sauna World.
