At an event organized by the Hamina Open Vitality Network, coordinated by the City of Hamina, the Hamina city center area was introduced to the world with the Take Over Hamina Day program on Monday, April 13, 2026.
The morning started with a playful Amazing Race Hamina-style section, where the teams were given tasks based on clues given to them by visitors in three different brick-and-mortar stores. At the Sevenon store, the task was to engrave the Hamina city plan on a shot glass, at the Pollepuoto store, to assemble a bridle, and at the Valo ja Tila store, to assemble a light cable for a lamp. The whole thing was described as challenging, but a nice way to get to know Hamina's service companies, which could also easily be sold to people visiting Hamina, for example.
Meyer's presentation allowed visitors to explore the renovated meeting, sauna and rental facilities. A new operator has moved from Sibeliuskatu to Meyer's premises, offering beauty and wellness services, for example.
After a shared lunch, we gathered in the Marski hall, where we heard a presentation aimed at entrepreneurs. Kareva – International recruitment about the "Valiudet" project, which promotes the readiness of Kymenlaakso companies to recruit international employees. Representatives of Ekte (Southern Kymenlaakso Employment Services) told about current support opportunities for entrepreneurs, for example, to support employee salaries.
In the entrepreneurs' speech, Uuperi Ski Center entrepreneur Arttu Hongisto shared experiences from the first winter season, and Sweet Bunch entrepreneur Elena Karhu talked about her company's services, such as decorative cakes, and future perspectives. In addition, news from the Hamina Entrepreneurs' Association was heard and current issues were exchanged.
