The Vitality and Wellbeing Committee convened on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at the Town Hall. The meeting discussed the first vitality program of the city of Hamina. The vitality program has been prepared for the years 2026–2030 and its goal is to strengthen the city's international position, business friendliness and attractiveness.

In addition, the committee decided at its meeting to award the 2026 Well-Being Hamina grants. A total of 265,400 euros in grants will be distributed for cultural, youth and sports activities, as well as other activities that promote well-being. The committee also discussed the Well-Being Promotion Fund's activity report for 2025 and the use plan for 2026.

The meeting also discussed a change to the criteria for granting the municipal supplement. In the future, the support will be known as the employment supplement and can be granted to companies and associations without being tied to wage subsidies. The reform aims to respond to the challenges of long-term unemployment.

The meeting also responded to the council initiative regarding the inclusion of young people in decision-making. The city is strengthening the voice of young people by, among other things, developing participatory budgeting and intensifying cooperation between the youth council and decision-makers.

The minutes will be available on the city's website starting October 17, 2025.
