Beaches

In the Hamina area, there is one public beach, Pitkät Hiekat, in accordance with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health Decree 177/2008. A public beach in accordance with the decree is a beach where at least 100 swimmers are expected to visit per day during the swimming season (15.6—31.8). There are six small public beaches (Rampsinkari, Mustaniemi, Vähäjärvi, Merkjärvi, Salmenvirta, Neuvoton). There are no public beaches in Virolahti and Miehikkälä. There are two small public beaches in Virolahti (Pyyhinlampi and Valkjärvi) and two in Miehikkälä (Halmaanjärvi and Myllylampi).

Swimming water samples are taken five times during the summer from Long Sands and Rampsinkari beaches. Samples are taken three times during the summer from other beaches.
