Housing health
Residential health includes the health conditions of dwellings, day care and school facilities, nursing homes and other similar public facilities. The inspection of dwellings and other indoor spaces is based on the Health Protection Act (763/1994). According to Section 27 of the Health Protection Act, the indoor air of a dwelling or other indoor space must be clean and humidity, noise, ventilation, odor, dust, light, radiation, microbes or other factors must not cause a health hazard. An inspection can be requested by a resident, the property owner or another interested party.
Regarding deficiencies and repairs in the apartment and public living spaces, the first contact should be with the property manager or the owner of the apartment if it is a rental apartment. In this case, health supervision can be contacted if the necessary measures have not been taken due to the reported deficiencies.
The health protection authority does not carry out inspections or statements regarding the sale or purchase of a home. Condition assessments are the responsibility of private parties.
