Unprofessional food sales and serving

Smaller operators, such as private individuals, hobby clubs or school classes, do not need to submit a food premises notification for the temporary sale or serving of low-risk food. Low-risk products from a food safety perspective include bread, gingerbread and other baked goods and mill products that can be stored at room temperature.

Food preparation is not a low-risk activity in principle, as there are always risks associated with cooling and storing food. However, it is possible for a private individual or a private entrepreneur (business owner) to operate a pop-up restaurant without registration under certain conditions. Small amounts of primary production products directly to consumers are considered primary production, and such sales do not require a separate sales notification.
