Food control
The task of food control is to protect the health and economic interests of consumers by ensuring the safety of food and food contact materials, the good health and other quality of food in accordance with food regulations, and the adequacy and accuracy of information provided about food and food contact materials. Control covers the entire food chain, including primary production, manufacturing, import and export, marketing, transport, trade, serving and other delivery. Food control inspections are carried out excellent instructions and generally without prior notice.
Food business operators are responsible for ensuring that their operations and food products meet the requirements of the legislation through their own monitoring. Food business operators must be aware of the health hazards associated with their operations and the critical points in terms of food safety. The operator must monitor their own operations and the quality of their products using a self-monitoring plan.
You can contact the food control when:
- you are establishing a food premises or facility
- the operation of the food premises changes (material change, change of operator or cessation of operations)
- you sell or serve food from a mobile food stall
- you want to make a comment about the quality of the food, the information provided about the food or the food premises
- you suspect that you have food poisoning or have otherwise become ill from food. You can also report it at www.ilppa.fi
- would you like more information about food control?
