Environmental protection regulations

The joint environmental protection regulations of the City of Hamina and the municipalities of Miehikkälä and Virolahti have been approved by the Hamina City Council on 4 May 2021, the Miehikkälä Municipal Council on 17 May 2021 and the Virolahti Municipal Council on 14 June 2021. The aim of the environmental protection regulations is to prevent environmental pollution and ensure a healthy and pleasant living environment for residents, taking into account local conditions. The environmental protection regulations apply to all residents of the municipality, excluding the activities specified in the collection of regulations.

The environmental protection regulations enter into force in accordance with the Municipalities Act without a separate decision once they have been approved by the council. The environmental protection regulations are therefore valid in all three cooperating municipalities. No changes were made to the proposal prepared by the Permit Committee on 16 March 2021. The environmental protection regulations may be deviated from for justified reasons if it does not cause environmental pollution or hinder the achievement of the objectives of the environmental protection regulations. A deviation can be applied for from the municipality's environmental department.
