Environmental protection

The tasks of the Environmental Protection Office include promoting general environmental protection, monitoring the state of the environment, inspections, advice and permit matters. They aim to ensure ecologically sustainable development, biodiversity and a pleasant environment for residents.

The City of Hamina also organizes environmental protection services for the municipalities of Virolahti and Miehikkälä.

The Permit Committee acts as the joint environmental protection authority of the municipalities of Hamina, Virolahti and Miehikkälä.
