The emergency service primarily provides first aid treatment, with any further treatment and more detailed diagnostics being carried out during office hours. Based on the call, the veterinarian will assess the need for treatment and the urgency of the patients. If the veterinarian is unable to answer the phone, please try calling again after a while. There is no callback service.
There is one veterinarian on duty in the Hamina region's environmental service area who treats both large and small animal patients. Small animals are treated at the veterinarian's own practice (Hamina, Virolahti or Pyhtää) and large animals are treated at farm visits. Small animals are not visited at home.
The owner is responsible for the cost of the veterinary visit. Payment is made on site either by card or cash. During on-call hours, the visit fee and procedure fees are increased by 50-100%. The veterinarian has the right to charge a visit fee according to the municipal veterinary fee for appointments that are not cancelled or are cancelled on the day of the visit.
