Ars Hamina 2025 offers nature experiences and moments of encounter that are sensitive to the July heat

Eija Keskinen: New Forest Sleepers 2
Galleria Ruutikellari, Roopertinkatu 8, 49400 Hamina
Open Thu 3.7. – Wed 30.7., Tue–Fri 12–19 and Sat 10–16

Gallery Ruutikellariin opens on July 3.7rd as part of the Ars Hamina 2025 summer exhibition complex Eija Keskinen New Sleepers 2 -show.

The exhibition's title works, colorful woodcuts, consist of a series of portrait-like figures inspired by the rhizomes, mossy boulders, and towering blueberry mounds that the artist sometimes pays special attention to when walking in the forest. The thematic focus of the exhibition is on nature experiences: walks in green and fragrant forests, where in early spring you can hear the cuckoo's call from the wet mounds, in midsummer the rustling of evening twilight from the tops of the spruce trees, and in autumn the shimmering, brilliantly reddish mounds and the different green shades of moss that spread out like a rug in front of the walker.

New sleepers 2 The opening of the exhibition will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2025, from 1–3 p.m. In addition, the artist will organize two artist meetings: on Finnish Fine Arts Day, Thursday, July 10, from 2–4 p.m., and on the last day of the exhibition, Wednesday, July 30, from 5–7 p.m.

Seija Westman: A moment of touch

Hamina Main Library Library Gallery, Rautatienkatu 8, 49400 Hamina
Open Thu 3.7. – Wed 30.7., Tue–Fri 12–19 and Sat 10–16

In Kotka artist Seija Westman's July exhibition at the Hamina Library Gallery, people and animals meet in delicate, atmospheric paintings.

Westman brings personal paintings of people and animals to the Hamina Library Gallery. The artist's works emphasize atmosphere and soulfulness, which are more important to him than the pursuit of precision. His painting style is sensitive and powerful, and he uses watercolors, acrylics, and oils in particular.

Westman has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions. His works are in both public and private collections. For him, making art is a way to express sensitivity and reach fleeting moments where colors and emotions come together.

More information and photos of the work can be found on the artist's Instagram account: instagram.com/seijart1

The exhibition is open from 3 to 30 July 2025 at the Hamina Library Gallery and admission is free. The exhibition is part of the Ars Hamina 2025 summer exhibition complex. There is barrier-free access to the gallery from the back of the library building. Instructions from the library staff or the exhibition supervisor.
