Submit your ideas for the development of the Hamina fortress area 

Durable fortresses- The project will develop the Hamina Fortress into a responsible recreation and tourism destination. The project will implement a development plan (masterplan) for the Hamina Fortress area, which will compile both the current state of the fortress area and the identified development needs. 

Two workshops will be organized for both residents and entrepreneurs for the development plan. The workshops will provide different views on how the Hamina fortress area should be developed to improve the comfort of residents and how, for example, entrepreneurs could benefit from the fortress area and the unique circular station plan in their own businesses.

Welcome to a joint evening to share your experiences and ideas for developing the Hamina fortress area. After a joint start, we will discuss in groups the current strengths of the Hamina fortress, development opportunities, and residents' views on the future of the fortress area according to four different themes. 

Workshop themes: 

1. Services, experiences and events

– What is missing from the fortress area? What new experiences and services does the fortress enable?

2. Stories, history and routes

– How are the stories of the fortress visible? How is the area perceived by visitors? What kind of routes does the area need?

3. Visibility and marketing

– How does the fortress communicate to the visitor on site? How does Hamina present itself attractively to tourists?

4. Residents' everyday life and the growth of tourism

– Where do tourism and everyday life support each other? What concerns or development needs does the growth of tourism raise?

– The stories of the fortress as part of the tourist experience. Guidance and overview of the area, routes and tours, connections to Kyminlinna and other fortress sites, and new tourist packages.

4. Visibility and marketing

– Communication in the area, Hamina as a tourist destination, shared story and brand, development of marketing and cooperation.
